SIDEWALK SciEd will conduct a site visit to assess the local surroundings and determine which kinds of projects are be feasible to facilitate within walking distance of the school or organization. We will then put together a science unit or lesson proposal, present it to the customer, and design the unit or lesson(s) upon approval.

SIDEWALK SciEd will train educators to facilitate a custom place-based science unit (see previous service) on-site at their school/organization, ensuring that they have the skills and experience needed to comfortably and confidently facilitate the full scientific process in their local environment, with an inquiry-centered focus. Workshops are usually scheduled for 3 half-days, but we have flexibility to work within other time constraints.

SIDEWALK SciEd helps educators with a variety of needs related to improving their existing teaching and assessment methods. For example, we train educators to confidently facilitate student-led scientific inquiry, to create more effective assessments of student needs and gains, to implement Universal Design for Learning, and to conduct basic data analysis and visualization. Seminars are usually scheduled for 1-2 hours.
